HRPWA Annual Breakfast

CCAP’s Public Works Academy Cadet and student intern, John Brinkley spoke at the annual Hampton Roads Public Works Academy’s (HRPWA) breakfast. He is enrolled in the Auto Body Technology program at CCAP. John is also a rising senior at Lakeland High School. Each year, HRPWA hosts a breakfast in honor of the Subject Matter Experts (SME) for their service in teaching Public Works Academy Cadets about workplace readiness, public works, and public utilities.

John presented information about his experience as a Public Works Academy Cadet and student intern to the HRPWA’s Board and visitors. He is currently interning in the mechanics department of the City of Suffolk’s Public Works Department. Chad Oxton, Chair of HRPWA’s Board is very instrumental in the selection process, interviewing, and hiring of student interns enrolled at CCAP. John’s supervisor, Owen Payne spoke highly of John and has already expressed interest in supervising him again next year. Kudos to John Brinkley!
