Students who are interested in installing, operating, maintaining and repairing residential, commercial and industrial electrical systems will enjoy learning and working in this career field. Every building has an electrical power, communications, lighting, and control system and students will become familiar with the aspects of these power systems.
The Electricity program is a one (1) year program designed for students to develop skills in the various components of the electrical system. They will also study electrical theory and mathematical problems related to electricity, navigate the National Electrical Code Book, select conductors, examine lighting, communication, power systems. In addition, students will work with an electrical conduit, raceways, panelboards, switchboards, grounding systems and generators.
Participation in the program enables students to earn the NOCTI (National Occupational Competency Testing Institute) Electrical Construction Technology, which demonstrates students' understanding of concepts and knowledge needed to exceed in the area of electricity.
