High School Welding Program Butterfly DonationEach year, Mr. Thomas Shirk, CCAP’s Welding Teacher, along with his students take Project Based/Service Learning to a new level. This year, they artistically created a beautiful butterfly using their welding skills to donate to a worthy cause, the Suffolk Humane Society's Paws for the Arts Fundraising Auction. Although the event was canceled this year due to the Pandemic, Suffolk Humane Society reached out to Mr. Shirk again this year for an auction item to be sold, even though they weren’t able to hold their annual banquet.

Kerri Shallcross, Executive Director of the Suffolk Humane Society, is pictured holding the donated item. This welded piece of art is a butterfly with wings in the shape of varous  animals. Check it out on the CCAP’s Banner for a better view.
